WARSAW — Beaman Home leaders are seeking the community’s help finalizing the campaign to build the two-story emergency shelter on the west end of their new outreach center at 603 N. SYRACUSE — Christopher David Prater, 17, Syracuse, was struck and killed this morning by a train in northern Kosciusko County.
Kosciusko County Coroner Michael Wilson stated Prater was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by a westbound CSX freight train en route to Chicago.

WARSAW — At approximately 12:07 a.m. today, Aug. 5, Warsaw Police responded to Lot 46 at Shamrock Mobile Home Park, on the north side of Warsaw, for a subject with a knife. Lucas Pierce has been booked on the following felony charges: Aggravated battery; intimidation with a deadly weapon; criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon; and criminal mischief. He was also served with a warrant for public intoxication.

SYRACUSE — Turkey Creek Township Fire Territory responded to a boat on fire Tuesday evening, Aug. 4, on Syracuse Lake. At 5:57 p.m., firefighters received the call and were able to extinguish the fire in about five minutes.
