NAPPANEE- Officers from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a paraglider that had crashed into a cornfield west of 71182 CR 9 in Nappanee, Friday evening, Aug. 7.

The pilot, who was identified as 29-year-old Seth Hochstetler of Nappanee, was found approximately 100 yards inside of the cornfield and suffered back injuries as a result of the crash.

He was flown to South Bend Memorial Hospital for his injuries by a Samaritan medical helicopter.

The crash is still under investigation.
