Due to a lack of a quorum on Tuesday, the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory postponed it’s April monthly meeting. The fire territory board meeting has been rescheduled for 4 p.m. Monday, April 13, in the city council chambers. The meeting is open to the public.

The second reading of an ordinance to establish a hazardous material response fund and schedule of charges for services provided by the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory was approved 5-1 Monday evening by the Warsaw Common Council. A small fire at the Warsaw Community Public Library ignited when plastic was left on a hot stove. Firefighters of the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory were called to the library at about 11:30 a.m. today. Fortunately, the only damage caused was to the stove and food, although the library did fill with smoke.  

Greater Warsaw Cooperative Preschool visited the Warsaw Fire Station No. 1 last week to learn about fire safety. The students learned about what they can do to help prevent fires, safety measures if a fire occurs, and at school the students practiced Stop, Drop and Roll.

The Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory is thanking RR Donnelley for the recent donation of two foam trailers. The two trailers are a much needed asset to fight Class B fires in Warsaw and the surrounding area. Class B fires involve anything that boils, such as a liquid or a fuel.

Pierceton firefighters responded to a report of an electrical fire at 204 W. Walnut St., at about 11:45 a.m. today.
