WARSAW —  What do you have planned for your family on Saturday, Sept. 12? What if you could tell the kids they will performing surgery for the first time, flying through the air on a zip line, or looking down at Center Lake from 50 feet high?

Family Safety Day, presented by the Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory, and sponsored by Kosciusko REMC and Lutheran Health Network KCH has become a well-loved local favorite for kids and grown-ups of all ages. This year’s event is slated from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, in Warsaw’s Central Park and Center Lake Pavilion.

Now in its eighth year, this event brings a crowd of nearly 4,000 people to experience a variety of hands-on learning activities, presentations and games, all offered free of charge. The whole family can learn about bike, farm, fire, electrical and water safety, stranger danger, first aid and health and wellness at this year’s event.

New This Year

New this year will be:

• Free make-n-take first aid kits from Lutheran Health Network KCH
• Tornado machine courtesy of the National Weather Service
• Grain entrapment simulation sponsored by Brock and TruHorizons
• Free bike helmets and fittings from the Warsaw Kiwanis Club
• Hands-on line building activity from Kosciusko REMC
• Water safety booth from the YMCA
• Image Clear Ultrasound Unit from Heartline Pregnancy Center
