Last Friday, July 31, will be all about “Back to School,” and everyone is invited to attend the bash, shopping and walking the block in uptown Syracuse from 5-7:30 p.m.

Thursday, July 16, the Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce and North Webster-Tippecanoe Township Chamber of Commerce partnered to hold a ribbon cutting for Jerky Jerks, 503 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. The business opened in March before temporarily closing during the stay-at-home order issued in light of the COVID-19 pandemic; it has since resumed operations.

Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce announced its July Member of the Month, Man Cave Brewing Company, 10201 N. SR 13, Syracuse. A great place to be in Syracuse, people can stop in for dinner from 4-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Local chamber of commerce organizations across Indiana were recognized for excellence by the Indiana Chamber Executives Association at the 2020 Annual Membership Meeting.

Saturday evening’s ribbon-cutting officially marked the beginning of a new downtown Syracuse venture. A Touch of Beauty joined the community with plans to offer a variety of services, including a traditional barbershop in the storefront and an adjacent private skincare room.

Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce’s June Member Of The Month is The Sleepy Owl Supper Club. Open seven days a week, 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, The Sleepy Owl is located at 11374 SR 13, Syracuse. This iconic restaurant has been locally owned by the Larson family for 11 years.

A community cruise-through event to honor the Wawasee High School Senior Class of 2020 took place Friday night, June 5. People decorated vehicles, honoring this year’s class, and lined the streets while cars honked in congratulations.

A community cruise through to honor the Wawasee High School senior class of 2020 has been scheduled from 6-6:30 p.m. Friday, June 5.

Anybody, including graduates, is encouraged to participate in the cruise through by decorating their vehicle. Attendees are asked to stay in their vehicles and practice social distancing.

Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce is launching Last Friday digitally in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. To join in the fun, visit the chamber’s Facebook page or Instagram or stop by the Syracuse Strong (Indiana) public Facebook group.

The Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce’s May Member of the Month is NAPA Auto Parts Auto Care Center, located at 817 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. NAPA employs four full-time employees. The store is in the process of an interior remodel. NAPA has been a good standing member of the chamber since 2015.

Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce announced the appointment of Andrea Reed as its new executive director. Reed will assume her responsibilities beginning the week of April 4, following a short transition period working with Tammy Cotton, who has stepped down to pursue other community-based projects.

SYRACUSE — The entire family will have plenty to do at Syracuse-Wawasee Winter Carnival Feb. 13, whether or not there is enough ice on Syracuse Lake for the annual Wawasee Kiwanis Snowmobile Drags. The carnival, which is presented by the Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce, has bulked up since it got its start in the ’70s; in fact, this year is the “biggest ever” carnival.
