INDIANAPOLIS – Three softballers from Wawasee and two from NorthWood were among the selections for the 2017 ICGSA Softball Academic All-State.
BLOOMINGTON – A strong contingent of area track athletes will compete Friday and Saturday at the State Finals.
Both the Mid-American Conference and Big Ten Conference issued schedules for football games for the upcoming season, including Ball State, Indiana and Purdue schedules.

ELKHART – The Penn baseball team crushed Elkhart Central to win the Elkhart Memorial Sectional title Monday.
The Winamac softball team won a sectional title Monday and will host Whitko in a one-game Class 2-A regional contest Tuesday night.
SOUTH BEND – The Cubs won its third straight game in the homestand, a 3-1 victory over Fort Wayne Saturday night.
LAFAYETTE – The Warsaw boys golf team placed sixth in the Lafayette Jeff Invitational Saturday.
ANGOLA – Fort Wayne Concordia rallied to beat Dwenger, 5-4, to win the Angola Softball Sectional to set up a regional showdown with Wawasee.
ELKHART – Elkhart Central and Penn claimed semifinal wins in the Elkhart Memorial Baseball Sectional Saturday.
WABASH – Landen Goff drove in the winning run in Whitko’s 4-3 win over Rochester at the Wabash Baseball Sectional.
SOUTH BEND – The Cubs took both games of a Saturday doubleheader against Fort Wayne.
SYRACUSE – NorthWood and Lakeland each rolled 11s to win semi-final games at Saturday’s NorthWood Baseball Sectional played at Wawasee.
ELKHART – The Northridge softball team beat Goshen 1-0 in the finale of the Class 4-A Elkhart Central Sectional Saturday.
CULVER — Warsaw’s girls tennis team showed fight, but the Lady Tigers succumbed to defending champ St. Joe at the Culver Academies Semistate Saturday.
FORT WAYNE – The Concord girls tennis team lost 5-0 to defending state champion Cathedral in semistate action Saturday.
ELKHART – The Warsaw baseball team saw its season end with a 4-3 loss to Elkhart Central in a sectional game Saturday afternoon.

CONVERSE – The Whitko softball team beat host Oak Hill Friday night to win a Class 2-A sectional championship.
CULVER – The Triton No. 1 doubles team lost in the individual sectional finals Friday night.
ELKHART – Host Elkhart Memorial won and Warsaw’s game was postponed in the Elkhart Memorial Baseball Sectional Friday night.
The inclement weather forced the area high school state tournament action to be altered again Friday night.
ELKHART – Jeff Wallace has been tabbed as the new Elkhart Memorial girls’ basketball coach.
Concord claimed its second regional championship in program history Thursday night.

CONVERSE – The Whitko softball team topped Manchester 3-2 in sectional semifinal play Thursday night.
LAGRANGE – Wawasee exploded for eight runs in the fourth inning in a 12-3 win over Fairfield in the championship of the Lakeland Softball Sectional.
FORT WAYNE – The inclement weather has changed the schedule for the Blackhawk Christian Baseball Sectional, which includes Triton.

PLYMOUTH — Inclement weather forced coaches to scrap Saturday’s Northern Lakes Conference Tournament at Pretty Lake Golf Club in Plymouth. The tournament — which will be a winner-take-all affair with Warsaw, Northridge and Plymouth all tied atop the final round robin standings — will be shortened to nine holes, per NLC bylaws.
CULVER — All of Triton’s top five earned all-conference honors, and Bryce Swihart was individual Hoosier North Athletic Conference titleist as the Trojans won the team title at the HNAC Boys Golf Championships Saturday at Mystic Hills.
