PERU – The wait was well worth it for the Manchester girls tennis team.
The Squires finally got their hands on another sectional championship trophy Monday night.
Manchester, after having to wait for a couple of extra days to finish the rain-delayed sectional final, beat host Peru 4-1 in the title tilt.
The Squires earn their second straight sectional title and the eighth in program history.
The finale of the sectional was postponed by rain Friday evening and then again on Saturday before contested Monday.
Manchester advances to play Plymouth Tuesday night at 5 p.m. in a semifinal matchup of the Culver Academy Regional. Warsaw will face Rochester in the other semifinal Tuesday night. The winners will then meet on Wednesday evening to play for the regional title and a spot back at Culver Academy for the semistate on Saturday.
