SYRACUSE — Wawasee High School participated in the District II FFA Leadership Contest Wednesday, March 16, at Argos High School. More than 200 FFA members participated in events such as public speaking, quiz bowl, demonstrations and interviews.

SYRACUSE — During the regular monthly meeting of the Wawasee school board Tuesday evening, Jan. 12, in Syracuse the board was given a brief update on the status of the construction of the new Syracuse Elementary School on Kern Road. The update was given by Bob Lahrman, director of support services for the school corporation.
SYRACUSE — Checking grades for student-athletes had been done every 12 weeks, or once each trimester. But it was determined that system may not be fair to some athletes, so a review was done.
SYRACUSE — Wawasee High School won several awards in the Midwest region of the National Scholastic Art Awards. More specifically, the region is referred to as the Northwest Indiana & Lower Southwest Michigan Regional Art Awards, formerly known as the Friends of Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

SYRACUSE — Technology was a main theme of the regular monthly meeting of the Wawasee school board Tuesday evening, Nov. 10, in Syracuse. The board heard two reports specifically dealing with technology.
SYRACUSE — The British are coming … in the form of American high school students. This will all come to light in the Wawasee High School production of “Emma,” which will be performed at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, and Saturday, Nov. 14.
SYRACUSE — Wawasee Middle School will host a robotics competition Saturday, Nov. 21. Competition rounds may be viewed by the public from 12:30 to 4 p.m.
ELKHART COUNTY — Last year was the first time Wawasee and Fairfield’s high school building trades programs teamed up to do a project. This year the two schools are again partnering and will do so for a third time next year.
SYRACUSE — The robotics program is being expanded throughout the Wawasee Community School Corp. at different grade levels. As one indicator the program is growing, Wawasee High School, for the first time, will host a robotics competition Saturday, Nov. 7.
Milford School is in the midst of an epidemic, a zombie epidemic. However, it’s all in good fun with the Wawasee Outdoor Club offering the free event — Zombie Zone — for middle school age students. The event, which is currently underway at the school, runs from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
SYRACUSE — From a very young age, Elizabeth Perepezko had an interest in how things worked and wanted to take things apart and put them back together. “I was always thinking, ‘what could I make from ordinary things?’” she said.
SYRACUSE — Wawasee High School is comprised of students and staff members from the towns of Syracuse, North Webster and Milford. All three towns have local food pantries serving the residents in their townships.
NORTH WEBSTER — Wawasee Community Schools, along with Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and North Webster Police have continued to follow the story of Deklan Hawthorne, a 6-year-old boy whose father reported his son was assaulted on an unsupervised school bus.
More emphasis is being placed by school corporations on data driven decisions. As a result, it is important to be able to access this data as easily and efficiently as possible.
Kindergarten Countdown is a joint effort between Wawasee Community Schools and United Way of Kosciusko County. The program is for preparing children with no preschool experience for the kindergarten classroom in the fall. It is a kindergarten orientation program.
