SYRACUSE — Wawasee High School is comprised of students and staff members from the towns of Syracuse, North Webster and Milford. All three towns have local food pantries serving the residents in their townships.
These food pantries rely heavily on community donations in order to ensure they have enough supplies to serve those who require assistance. Currently, the Wawasee Community School Corp. has a 50 percent free and reduced price student lunch population. This means 50 percent of the household income of families of students is at or below the state level of poverty.
Again this year the WHS Key Club will be holding its non-perishable food drive, Stuff The Bus, during the week of Nov. 16-21. The goal is to stuff a bus full of food that will be donated to the Syracuse, North Webster and Milford food pantries. The bus will be at the high school every morning during the week of Nov. 16 for student and staff donations.
Key Club members will also be at the following locations:
• 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, Dollar General Store, SR 15, Milford
• 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, NewMarket, SR 13, North Webster
• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, NewMarket, SR 13, Syracuse
Donations will be delivered to the food pantries after school Monday, Nov. 23.
