WAKARUSA — Robert “Rob” D. Emerick, 46, Milford, is in critical condition at South Bend Memorial Hospital following a two-vehicle accident Friday, April 21, on SR 19, south of the roundabout at SR 119. Emerick suffered severe head injuries and a compound fracture to the leg.

WAKARUSA — Michael Thorn, 60, Warsaw, was not injured in a four-vehicle accident Tuesday, Nov. 22, on SR 19, north of CR 32, north of Wakarusa. The accident closed SR 19 for several hours.

ELKHART COUNTY — Elkhart County, in cooperation with the towns of Bristol, Middlebury, Nappanee and Wakarusa, and the cities of Elkhart and Goshen, have prepared an update to the 2007 Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan to address the risk and vulnerability of communities in the county which may be affected by known natural, technological and political hazards. …read more.

ELKHART — The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department responded to an anonymous tip regarding an underage drinking party on Saturday, Oct. 10. The officers went to a residence is the 62000 block of CR 1. At the residence, officers found multiple people under the age of 1 who had been consuming alcoholic beverages. One of those individuals was was Syracuse.

David Eby and staff have done more flights over the local Kosciusko community than usual lately. Children aren’t the only ones who stare in awe as the yellow planes dip low — an astonishing 10 to 15 feet above the crops.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for southwestern Elkhart and northeastern Marshall counties until 6:30 p.m. tonight, June 8.
