Nathan Andrew Hixenbaugh, 28, of Wakarusa, Ind., passed away at 5:42 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, at his residence after a 10 month illness.
He was born March 12, 1985, in Mishawaka, Ind., to James and Karen Eberlein Hixenbaugh. He lived his lifetime in this area. Nathan was a 2003 graduate of NorthWood High School and received his bachelors degree in finance and economics from Ball State University. He was a loving uncle to his nieces and nephews.
Nathan is survived by his mother: Karen Housour, Wakarusa; sister: Tara Hixenbaugh, Bristol; brother: Joel (Lee) Eberlein, Edwardsburg, Ind.; stepsisters: Renee (Ken) Nisley, Nappanee, Ind.; Erica (Brooks) Egolf, Nappanee; and stepbrothers: Rodney (Beth) Housour, Goshen, Ind.; and Jason Housour, Nappanee.
He was preceded in death by his father: James Hixenbaugh; and his stepfather: Tony Housour.
Visitation will take place from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Wakarusa. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Olive West Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Special Olympics of Elkhart County in the name of Nathan and his Aunt Kathy Eberlein, who was a participant in the Special Olympics.
