BOURBON — Triton Elementary School was recently awarded a robotics grant from the TechPoint Foundation for Youth. The grant will allow the school school to receive a free VEX IQ Robotics kit and to train one teacher to become a robotics educator. Brittany Brosman, fifth grade teacher at Triton Elementary School was the first Triton teacher to be “Common Sense media” certified. This certification program helps teachers know how to teach students to be safe on the Internet and leave a clean digital footprint as they work.

Triton School Corporation will host a free ice cream social at 8 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 9, in front of Triton Elementary School. This ice cream social will be followed by the Summerfest fireworks on the school grounds.

The annual sixth grade graduation was held at Triton Elementary School the evening of May 28. Several awards were given out to the sixth graders by the teachers. This is one of the lessons developed through the science learning through an engineering design program sponsored by Purdue University.  

Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz announced Indiana’s “4-Star Schools” for 2012-2013 today. In order to achieve this designation, a school must be in the top 25th percentile of schools in three ISTEP-based categories. The annual “Books and Baskets” evening took place at Triton Elementary School from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. March 19. The Triton High School boys’ and girls’ basketball teams were at Triton Elementary School to read with the elementary students and then shoot “hoops” with them in the gym.
