INDIANAPOLIS — Arlen Brennaman of Syracuse is seeing gold after scratching a record-making winning lottery ticket while on a break from work in Goshen. An employee at Forest River Inc., Brennaman said his initial reaction was complete shock after scratching off a ticket worth $7 million.

SYRACUSE — Syracuse Town Council swore in Jim Layne as the town’s new police chief during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday night, Nov. 17. Layne had served as interim chief since Tony Ciriello retired last month.

MILFORD — Fire and EMS crews located the driver, identified as Amanda Goss, 37, Mentone, who was complaining of neck pain. Also removed from the vehicle was a front seat passenger, identified as Barry White, 39, Kentucky. White also complained of neck pain, and both individuals were subsequently transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw, in stable/fair condition.

EVANSVILLE — The published public phone number of (812) 867-2079 for the Indiana State Police in Evansville is reported to have been spoofed over the last 24 hours. A person notified the Indiana State Police this morning that he received a phone call from (812) 867-2079 and the person calling identified himself as a police officer. The caller further explained that he owed money to the Internal Revenue Service and that if he didn’t pay he would be arrested. This is a common scam and Indiana State Police are not calling residents about their unpaid taxes.

PLYMOUTH — Marshall County Sheriff’s Department arrested four Ohio teenagers Friday evening for having false government identifications. WARSAW — Madison McKenzie Jones, 19, 301 Ulrich Drive, Milford, plead guilty to charges of battery resulting in serious bodily injury and neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury, this morning in Kosciusko County Circuit Court. Jones was charged Feb. 27 at which time her two-month old child suffered blunt force trauma.

INDIANAPOLIS — The woman assaulted and shot Tuesday morning during a northwest Indianapolis home invasion has died, according to her family’s church. Amanda Blackburn passed away Wednesday morning.

NORTHERN INDIANA — The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a wind advisory, which is in effect until 9 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 12. The high wind warning has been cancelled.
