CLAYPOOL – A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon, July 15, after apparently letting his vehicle roll off of public access boat ramp and into Carr Lake.

First responders were dispatched to a local boat ramp at 5410 S. Kinsey Road, Claypool, at Carr Lake, about a sinking vehicle and possible rescue. The initial police scanner call said one individual had let his vehicle run off the ramp, and subsequently sink in the lake. A woman at the scene then dove into the water to make sure no one else was in the car.

Once first responders arrived, they identified the man who allowed the car to sink. Officers found marijuana and a large sum of cash on the man.

The Honda Accord, with an Ohio license plate, was pulled out of the lake and officials found numerous items of clothing inside.

The man was taken into custody and was being checked out by EMS on scene. Officers are unsure of a motive or circumstances.

An investigation into the matter was continuing Wednesday afternoon.
