Niblock Excavating & Asphalt, Bristol, was awarded the bid for the first phase of Warsaw’s Market Street Reconstruction Project. The bid was awarded this morning during a special Board of Public Works & Safety meeting. Niblock was the lowest of three bids received on Dec. 23. Their bid was $1,460,530.65. The City of Warsaw was notified this afternoon, Norfolk Southern has reopened the railroad crossing on Market Street. Work has been rescheduled. The railroad will now be closed for grade work beginning Monday morning, weather permitting.

Warsaw’s Traffic Safety Commission has reviewed traffic and crash data for the Indiana and Main streets intersection over the last year in response to a request to establish a four-way stop there. Last friday Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer was notified that the City of Warsaw was awarded $1.76 million dollars of Federal Highway Administration Highway funds for East Market Street reconstruction.
