Bids Received On Phase One Of Market Street Project

Bids for the first phase of Warsaw’s Market Street Project were opened this morning by Jeremy Skinner, city planner, and James Emans, city engineer. The project will be from Argonne Road to near Bronson Street.

Three bidders: Reith-Riley Construction Company Inc., Goshen; Phend & Brown Inc., Milford; and Niblock Excavating & Asphalt, Bristol, submitted bids for widening Market Street, additions of sidewalks and street lights.

Emans noted the engineer’s estimated cost for the project is $1,441,628. Two of the three bids came in near the engineer’s estimate, one bid was over the estimate.

Emans announced the bids will be reviewed and awarded at a special meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety. That meeting is set for 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 29.

Initial bids were: Reith RIley — $2,159,352.35; Phend and Brown — $1,495,315.80 and Niblock — $1,460,530.65.
