FORT WAYNE – Behind Thomas Dorminy’s seven scoreless innings, the TinCaps shut out the Lake County Captains, 2-0. Fort Wayne extended its home winning streak to 17 on Thursday night, and can now clinch a playoff berth with a victory on Friday.

SOUTH BEND – After being held to just two runs in the first two games of the series, South Bend piled up 12 hits in a 7-4 win over Fort Wayne on Sunday afternoon at Four Winds Field.

SOUTH BEND – Fort Wayne starter Thomas Dorminy dazzled with seven shutout innings, and South Bend fell to the TinCaps, 2-0, in Saturday’s middle game at Four Winds Field before 6,574 fans.

SOUTH BEND – Dayton crafted an early lead and never looked back in a 7-2 win over South Bend on Thursday night at Four Winds Field.

WARSAW – The CCAC Attack baseball program will host an 8U tryout Sunday, Aug. 30, from 2-4 p.m. at the Leesburg coach pitch fields.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The TinCaps matched a franchise record for consecutive wins Wednesday night, as they beat the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 4-1, at Bowling Green Ballpark for their 10th victory in a row.

SOUTH BEND – South Bend starter Trevor Clifton struck out seven and worked into the seventh inning, and the Cubs came to life in the middle innings to defeat Dayton, 8-3, on Wednesday night at Four Winds Field.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The TinCaps won their ninth consecutive game Tuesday, 8-3, over the Bowling Green Hot Rods at Bowling Green Ballpark. The win streak is Fort Wayne’s longest since June 2013.

SOUTH BEND – Playing at home for the first time in nine days, South Bend burst out for seven early runs and coasted to a 7-2 victory over Dayton on Tuesday night at Four Winds Field in the series opener.

FORT WAYNE – The Summit City was named the third-best market in the country for Minor League sports, according to SportsBusiness Journal’s bi-annual rankings. The TinCaps, the ECHL’s Komets and the NBADL’s Mad Ants helped Fort Wayne improve 16 spots from its 2013 ranking.

SOUTH BEND – South Bend center fielder Ian Happ saved a run with a diving catch in the top of the third and cracked a two-run shot in the home half of the inning, as the Cubs defeated Clinton, 4-1, on Friday night in the series opener at Four Winds Field.

BURLINGTON, Iowa – The TinCaps took the rubber match of their three-game series against the Burlington Bees, 5-4, at Community Field on Thursday night. Fort Wayne overcame a 1-0 deficit with two runs in the second inning and three in the fifth, and hung on from there.

SOUTH BEND – Kane County broke a tie in the seventh and clung to a tight lead the rest of the way, downing South Bend, 4-3, on Thursday night at Four Winds Field in the rubber game.

BURLINGTON, Iowa – The TinCaps’ seven-game winning streak came to an end Wednesday night with a 5-0 loss to the Burlington Bees at Community Field. Burlington returned the favor after Fort Wayne won in shutout fashion, 4-0, on Tuesday.

SOUTH BEND – South Bend scored 10 unanswered runs, and Trevor Clifton hurled seven strong innings, as the Cubs defeated Kane County, 10-2, on Wednesday night at Four Winds Field before a crowd of 5,029, a mark that pushed South Bend to a new single-season franchise attendance record of 259,530.

SOUTH BEND – At 9 a.m. Eastern Standard Time August 5th, the South Bend Cubs were 300 tickets away from setting a new record for regular season attendance. By 7:05 p.m., when the first pitch had been thrown, the new historic record of 259,530 fans for a single season of professional baseball in South Bend had been established.

WARSAW – The CCAC Attack 10U team won the Northern Indiana Cardinals Tournament this past weekend. MIDLAND, Mich. – South Bend snuck ahead of Great Lakes in the top of the ninth to take a one-run lead, but the Loons scored two runs with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to complete the walk-off win, 3-2, over the Cubs and complete the sweep Thursday night at Dow Diamond.

With 18 games still left in the regular season, nearly a quarter million fans have walked through the gates at Four Winds Field in downtown South Bend to watch Single-A baseball.

Separation Sunday saw a pair of area baseball teams set themselves up for a state title. The Mentone 8U and the New Paris 12U baseball teams will play Monday night for Town & Country State Finals titles and are in great shape still standing undefeated in their respective double elimination tournaments.

The Fort Wayne TinCaps fell to the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 3-2, on a 90-degree Sunday afternoon at Bowling Green Ballpark. Hot Rods first baseman Alec Sole hit a walk-off home run to begin the bottom of the ninth.

South Bend started fast in its quest for a three-game sweep, but West Michigan downed the Cubs, 5-1, to salvage the series finale Sunday afternoon at Fifth Third Ballpark.

The 8U Mentone baseball team sit in fantastic position after Saturday’s round of games at the Town & Country Minor State Finals, held in Rochester. The Mudhens are currently 2-0 in the tournament after winning 18-5 against Oak Hill Saturday afternoon. Mentone’s 10U baseball team also are alive after a win.

New Paris’ quest for a Town & Country 12U baseball state title went as hoped Friday evening, walloping Lewis Cass, 11-1, in a run-rule, five-inning game in the first of two games in bracket play.

A resounding pair of wins opened play at the 2015 Town & Country Senior State Finals Thursday evening at Pierceton Little League. The 12U baseball tournament, featuring eight teams from around northern Indiana, had two team begin their marches with big wins. Alexandria kicked off the tourney right with a 15-1 victory over North Miami while Plymouth pitched a shutout over Ole Miss, 6-0, in game two of the evening.

The TinCaps clobbered the Lake County Captains, 7-1, on Thursday night at Classic Park. Fort Wayne built a 7-0 lead over the first six innings as it ended a five-game losing streak.

A shutout in the series opener and an early lead in game two spiraled downward into a series loss for South Bend, as Great Lakes stormed to a 13-0 win in the rubber game Thursday night at Four Winds Field.

When the Fort Wayne TinCaps host the West Michigan Whitecaps on Friday, July 31, all attendees will be a part of an event that serves as a reminder that cars are much more than a form of transportation for many people. A “like new” refurbished vehicle will be presented to a newly-licensed nursing assistant, who is also a mother of three little girls.

An early South Bend lead evaporated into a slight Great Lakes advantage, and the Loons held on for the 5-2 win to even the series at a game apiece Wednesday night at Four Winds Field.

JASPER – The Warsaw Little League All-Star team concluded play Monday evening in the state tournament. The Major League team lost 12-2 to Wabash in its final contest in pool play. Warsaw, which won the District 14 championship, finished 0-3 in the state tourney. The tourney continues today through Thursday.  

The young sluggers from Mentone’s youth leagues are headed to the Town & Country state tournament.

Fort Wayne lost to the Dayton Dragons, 1-0, on Monday night at Fifth Third Field.

The Dragons scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. After two walks and an infield single loaded the bases with one out, Gavin LaValley plated Luis Gonzalez with a groundout to third base.
