WARSAW — A dream of a third fire station for Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory is one step closer after WWFT board members approved an agreement with MartinRiley, Fort Wayne, Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 6. Originally estimated at $4,470,160 in January, the cost has been reduced to $3,623,852 for a smaller station. The agreement will go before the Warsaw Board of Works Sept. 16 for action.

WARSAW — Plans on how to utilize $1,440 million on streets in Warsaw was presented by Jeff Beeler, public works superintendent, during Tuesday evening’s Warsaw Common Council meeting. The presentation included the methods to improve roads, costs per district and the blueprint with road grades to be used now and through the future.

LAKE WAWASEE — The first Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation Lilly Pad Cruise, as part of its annual summer Lake Talk and Eats appears to have been a success with a boat full of people of all ages participating. The cruise combined lake history with the ecology of the lake through WACF programs and research by the Center for Lakes & Streams.

SYRACUSE — The annual meeting of the Syracuse Lake Association Saturday morning, Aug. 6, included news of a new type of algae being found on Syracuse Lake the past week.

NORTH WEBSTER — The four contracted areas of the projects are quickly approaching the substantial completion date of Dec. 27, with final touches being added to each area. Contract A, bid by Selge Construction, covers Shoe Lake, Irish Lake, Sawmill Lake and part of Sechrist and Barbee lakes. Casey Erwin, DLZ project engineer, estimated this area to be 59 percent complete with the majority of laterals installed and grinder stations being placed, as well.

WARSAW — The Oakwood Cemetery Board met Thursday, Aug. 4, to discuss the budget. Oakwood Cemetery Sexton, Hal Heagy, presented the board with the 2017 budget for approval. WARSAW — Michael “Mike” Ragan was elected the new Kosciusko County Republican Chair by county precinct committeemen and vice committeemen Wednesday evening, Aug. 3. Ragan received the majority of the 94 votes cast over his opponent Tressa Nichols.

WARSAW — During the regular monthly meeting of the Kosciusko County Area Planning Commission Wednesday, Aug. 3, in Warsaw, the APC recommended approval for vacation of a platted easement off Bouse Drive on the north side of Sechrist Lake in Tippecanoe Township. It is located in the second addition to the Springbrook Park subdivision. Steve Snyder, attorney representing petitioners Judd and Nancy Mason, said the small strip of acreage is not a public way but a platted easement. He added there is a state statute allowing the county commissioners to vacate platted easements.
