NEW PARIS — A two-vehicle crash around 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 1, sent six of the seven passengers involved to Goshen General Hospital.

None of the injuries were life-threatening.

A red Chevy Impala, eastbound on US 6, collided with an orange Dodge Grand Caravan, which failed to yield at the stop sign on CR 23 (old SR 15) just east of SR 15. The Caravan was headed south and proceeded into the path of the Impala, according to a witness who asked that her name be withheld.

The driver of the Caravan, who was taken by stretcher to the hospital, was cited for failing to yield the right of way.

The Impala was pushed onto the front lawn of the house at the southeast corner of the intersection. The mother was driving the car, with her husband in the front passenger seat and their two children, a 3-year-old boy and 5-year-old girl, riding in the back. The mother was taken by stretcher to an ambulance and the two children walked under their own power to accompany her and get checked out at the hospital.

All four passengers in the Caravan — an adult, a teenager and two younger children — were also transported to Goshen General Hospital.

All names are withheld by request.

Medics from Goshen and Jackson Township EMS and the New Paris Fire Department and EMS were on the scene to help the injured, some of whom were transported by Lutheran EMS of Kosciusko County. Members of the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department maintained traffic control.
