SYRACUSE — Syracuse Strong continues with two free meal distributions. One Thursday, May 14, and the other Saturday, May 16.

Oakwood Resort, 702 E. Lake View Road, Syracuse, will be giving back to the community Thursday, May 14. The resort and its numerous sponsors will be providing 350 free meals for those in need.

The meal distribution will begin at 4 p.m. with curbside pickup.

The meal will include Cajun pasta — chicken, smoked andouille sausage, Alfredo sauce and Parmesan cheese — with breadstick.

Sponsors include Oakwood Resort; Pier & Back Porch; Stanz Foodservice; the RGroup Real Estate — Keller Williams; Rex A. Heil — Keller Williams; Crossroads Bank; Metropolitan Title; Gold Key Inspection Services; Ritter Electric, Heating, Cooling & Plumbing; Total Property Care; Chris and Tammy Cotton; Five Star Distributors; and Northwest Bank.

Vineyard Community Church, 7566 E. 1000N, Syracuse, next to Wawasee Middle School, will be giving away 250 free pizzas from the Down Under bar and restaurant along with a free time capsule activity for families beginning at noon Saturday, May 16. This will feed approximately 1,000 people.

The food is being provided by Down Under, as well as Friends of the Down Under and Vineyard Community Church.

“Our goal is to bless children and families with a free meal and a family activity,” said Derek Coy, pastor of generations and outreach at Vineyard.
