
GRACE COLLEGE WOMEN 73, HUNTINGTON 57
Grace’s women’s basketball team continued its winning ways with an upset of Huntington on Wednesday.
Kyannah Stull scored a career-high 25 points to take down the Foresters (17-11, 10-7 Crossroads League), who are receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25.
Grace sits in a three-way tie for fourth place in the league standings with one regular season contest remaining. The Lady Lancers can finish anywhere from fourth to sixth based on Saturday’s results.
The first half was at times chaotic, but the Lady Lancers (16-13, 10-7 CL) controlled the action with their aggressive defensive pressure.
Kaylie Warble secured the win by converting on her post opportunities late in the game. She scored six points over the final four minutes to keep the Foresters at a distance as Grace ended the game on a 20-4 run and poured in 26 total points in the fourth quarter.
Stull shot 7-of-11 from the floor, 5-of-6 from beyond the arc and 6-of-7 from the foul line for her 25 points. She added six rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Vironnica Drake tallied 19 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals in a balanced performance, and Warble just missed a double-double with nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Kamryn Hostetler had nine points and no turnovers as Grace’s primary point guard, while Brooke Sugg amassed seven points, five assists and five steals for the Lady Lancers.
Grace shot a sizzling 53 percent from beyond the arc and also held a dominant plus-13 advantage on the glass. The Lady Lancers grabbed 17 offensive rebounds, resulting in 18 second chance points.
Grace’s final game of the regular season is at No. 8 Taylor on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Trojans have won 16 straight games and are playing for a shot at the Crossroads League championship.
NORTHWOOD 51, TIPPECANOE VALLEY 45
The Panthers scored at a better-than-50-percent clip to earn a win over a possible Sectional 21 opponent Wednesday night.
NorthWood converted 17-of-33 shots from the floor at the Panther Pit, including 5-of-6 shooting as they rallied from a 33-28 deficit with a 23-12 fourth period for the win.
Ben Vincent knocked down 4 of 6 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 20 points — including 12 during the Panthers’ big fourth quarter — while Trent Edwards put up 11 for Wood (7-12), which snapped a five-game losing streak.
Tanner Trippiedi scored 15 points while passing out five assists, and Parkur Dalrymple added 13 for Valley. Cameron Parker chipped in nine points with a pair of steals for the Vikings (11-9), who lost for the first time in five games.
Valley returns to action at Triton Friday, when NorthWood plays host to Elkhart Christian.
ARGOS 46, TRITON 35
Triton suffered a loss in a potential Sectional 51 match-up on the road Wednesday.
The Trojans fell behind 18-8 in the first period and slipped into a 27-8 halftime deficit after a scoreless second quarter, never once leading in the loss.
Triton scored on just 2 of 12 shots while falling behind in the first half. Tye Orsund netted a game-high 15 points with five rebounds and two steals, while Keegan Westafer finished with eight points and nine rebounds for Triton (7-10).
Argos got 13 points apiece from Sam Manikowski and Ian Kindig, who also pulled down seven caroms. Owen Nifong scored eight points with seven rebounds for the Dragons (15-4), which punished 12 Triton turnovers with 14 points off turnovers.
Meanwhile, in the JV game, Triton fell by a close, 49-47 margin.
Trenton Kreft scored 11, and Tyson Yates finished with 10 for the JV Trojans in that contest. Jake Stults gave the Argos JV a game-high 18 points, followed by Kayden Brady’s 11.
Triton hosts Tippecanoe Valley Friday. Argos will host North Miami Friday.
TIPPECANOE 8TH GRADE GIRLS 47, MANCHESTER 13
The eighth grade Lady Squires lost to Tippecanoe Valley 47-13.
Olivia Neal scored 10 points to lead Manchester. Valley (8-1) had Rily Holloway lead the way with 13 points and Kaydence Mellott and Molly Moriarty each had eight points.
TIPPECANOE VALLEY 7TH GRADE 32, MANCHESTER 9
Chesnee Miller had 11 points for Valley (7-2) in the big win. Ava Smith and Jessa Schroeder combined for 11 points to aid the victory.
LAKEVIEW 8TH GRADE GIRLS 40, BREMEN 2
It was all Lakeview (8-5) in this contest, led by Lauren Grose’s 10 points and Macey Wayne with nine points. Macey Perry and Tess Graney combined for seven points.
LAKEVIEW 7TH GRADE GIRLS 34, BREMEN 11
The seventh grade Lady Tigers earned a win over Bremen Wednesday night.
Abigail Davis led all scorers with 10 points, Jael Namfukwe scored eight, Joey Rastrelli finished with seven, and Leah Henderson added five points.
Lakeview is now 11-1 and will host Manchester at home on Thursday at 5 p.m.
