WARSAW 4, WAWASEE 1
Warsaw’s boys tennis team handed Wawasee a 4-1 defeat in NLC action Tuesday.

The Warriors’ only win came at 1 singles, where Zach Leedy defeated Caleb Williams, 6-1, 5-7, 7-6(4). Graham Perek lost a close first set to Reuben Williams at 2 singles, then fell 7-5, 6-0. Colin Rhodes was beaten, 6-0, 6-1 by Brian Elliott at 3 singles.

Spencer Britton and Nolan Knight put away Jacob Kaugman and Grant Brooks 6-1, 6-0 at 1 doubles, and Jarett Orr and Michael Ray shut out Taylor Fiedeke and Zeke Keim 6-0, 6-0 at the 2 doubles position.

Warsaw travels to NorthWood Thursday, when Wawasee hits the road for Elkhart Memorial.

TRITON 5, LAVILLE 0
Triton tennis collected a 5-0 Hoosier North Athletic Conference win over LaVille Tuesday.

John Gardner beat Zach Rutherford 6-0, 6-0 at 1 singles, Jared Bules topped David Clayton 6-0, 6-1 at 2 singles, and the Trojans won by forfeit on the other three courts.

Triton improves to 5-9 overall and 3-2 in HNAC play. The Trojans play at North Judson Thursday.

NORTHRIDGE 3, NORTHWOOD 2
NorthWood lost a close NLC match with Northridge at home in Nappanee Tuesday.

The razor-thin decision included four three-setters, three of which were won by the Raiders.

Gabe Rodino trumped Wes Troyer, 1-6, 7-5, 6-3 at 1 singles, Cooper Tavernier rallied past Ben Vincent, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 at 2 singles, and Aaron Cripe and Evan Nay did likewise versus Grant Topping and Dawson Bley at 2 doubles, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3.

Landon Holland won the Panthers a three-setter at 3 singles, beating Avert Mantyla 6-4, 5-7 6-0, and Trajan Schwartz and Jack Wysong combined for a straight-set win over Brant Brouillette and Cole Miller at 1 doubs, 6-3, 6-2.

NorthWood’s JV lost its meet, 4-3.

The varsity Panthers slipped to 7-4 overall and 2-3 in the NLC. They will host their senior night on Thursday against Warsaw.

LANCERS 9, ST. FRANCIS 0
Grace’s men’s tennis team pitched a shutout against St. Francis on Tuesday, winning 9-0 at Miller Athletic Complex.

The Lancers (3-3, 3-2 Crossroads League) won all six singles’ matches in straight sets to make quick work of the Cougars (0-5, 0-5 CL).

Pavle Popovic and Diego Zamora teamed up for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles, which proved to be the closest doubles’ match.

Max Rozas and Caleb Yoder won 8-1 at No. 2 doubles, and Jacob Gray and Conner Bates won 8-2 at No. 3 doubles.

Rozas was unblemished 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Gray won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5. Popovic earned a 6-3, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, and Zamora won by the same score at No. 3.

Arturo Fonseca battled to a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles, and Yoder rounded out the match with a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 6.

The Lancers wrap up the week by playing at ITA Regionals, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan. The regional tournament starts on Thursday.

LADY LANCERS 8, ST. FRANCIS 1
Grace’s women’s tennis team improved to 6-1 with a convincing 8-1 victory over St. Francis on Tuesday.

The Lady Lancers are enjoying their second-best start in team history, tying last year’s 6-1 start. The best start in program history came in 2008 when the Lady Lancers started 10-1 en route to an 11-2 final record.

Tuesday’s match started with singles’ competition. Emily Mast at No. 1 singles, Jayna Armstrong at No. 4 and Shelby Bankson at No. 6 were all perfect 6-0, 6-0 in their matches.

Carrie Copeland sped by her opponent to win 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and Morgan Mast produced a quick 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles.

Grace only lost two games across the three doubles courts in a dominant finish to the match at Miller Athletic Complex. Emily Mast and Jenna Jackson were a perfect 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, and Morgan Mast and Armstrong mimicked that perfect scoreline at No. 3 doubles.

Copeland and Molly Fitzpatrick also won 8-2 at No. 2 doubles.

The Lady Lancers will head to ITA Regionals to end the week in an annual test against the best teams in the Midwest.
