Wawasee Softball: Fretz And Michiana Mystique Runners-Up At PGF Regional Championships

The Michiana Mystique 18U softball team went 10-3 at the Premier Girls Fastpitch Midwest Regional Championships in Peoria, Ill., over the weekend. PEORIA, ILL. — Wawasee’s Meghan Fretz competed with the Michiana Mystique as the Mystique went 10-3 at the Premier Girls Fastpitch Midwest Regional Championships in Peoria, Ill., last weekend.

The 18U team, which is based out of South Bend, finished as runner-up behind the Minnesota Sting out of 34 teams from 13 different states.

After falling to the BNGSA Angels of Illinois on Saturday afternoon, the Mystique battled back to win five consecutive games, including wins over former champions Indiana Prospects and BNGSA Angels to reach the championship game. The Mystique finished bracket play with a record of 7-2 and a 10-3 record in the tournament overall, which was held at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex.
