Warsaw handed host Wawasee a 3-2 Northern Lakes Conference defeat on Tuesday night.

Michael Ray and Will Boren defeated Grant Brooks and Blaine Bout, 7-6(2), 6-3 at 1 doubles, while Cole Rhodes and Carter Schuh topped Dolin Rhoades and Zeke Keim 6-3, 6-2 at the 2 doubles position. Hayden Anderson supplied the Tigers with their sole singles win, 6-1, 6-2, over Jack Gibbon at the No. 3 spot.

Zach Leedy put away Caleb Williams, 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles position, and Holden Babb won in three sets versus Trey Williams, 6-2, 1-6, 6-3, at the 2 singles spot for Wawasee’s two wins.

NORTHWOOD 5, NORTHRIDGE 0
NorthWood bounced back from its first loss of the year with a 5-0 sweep of Northern Lakes Conference opponent Northridge Tuesday.

Chase Horner beat Cameron Henry in an ultra-tight three-setter at 3 singles, 6-7(7-4), 7-6(4), 6-4, and Bryce Harner and Treyton Martin combined for another three-set win over Cole Miller and Collin Seegert at 2 doubles, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5, to complete the sweep. Jack Wysong and Landon Holland held off Aaron Cripe and Evan Nay at 1 doubles, 6-1, 6-4. Wes Troyer and Ben Vincent gave up a total of just five games on the 1 and 2 singles courts.

Wood improves to 5-0 in the NLC and 10-1 overall.

The Panthers JV lost by a narrow 6-5 margin.

TRITON 5, LAVILLE 0
Triton swept LaVille in their second Hoosier North Athletic Conference meet at LaVille Tuesday.

The Trojans didn’t give up a single game between John Gardner at 1 singles, Connor Large at 2 and Gavin Greer at 3. The Lancers forfeited both doubles points.

The Trojans move to 7-9 overall and 4-1 in the HNAC.

NO. 22 IWU MEN 4, GRACE 3
Grace’s men’s tennis team fell for the first time in Crossroads League play on Tuesday.

The Lancers (8-2, 7-1 CL) slipped 4-3 to No. 22 Indiana Wesleyan in a battle for first place in the league standings.

Grace still has a chance to wrap up the No. 2 seed in the conference. The Lancers will host No. 21 Marian on Sept. 24 to determine which team will finish second or third.

The day started well for Grace; the Lancers claimed the doubles’ point after winning two matches.

Max Rozas and Fabricio Galvan pulled out a 7-6 win at No. 2 doubles, and Ramiro Candia and Jacob Gray claimed a 6-4 victory at No. 3.

Rozas also won at No. 1 singles (6-4, 6-1), and Pavle Popovic earned a 6-2, 7-6 win at No. 3. The Wildcats (11-0, 8-0 CL) managed to take the match, however, by winning the remaining four singles’ courts.

NO. 9 IWU WOMEN 7, GRACE 0
The record start for Grace’s women’s tennis team ended on Tuesday with a 7-0 defeat to No. 9 Indiana Wesleyan.

The Lady Lancers (8-1, 7-1 Crossroads League) tasted defeat for the first time this year; Grace’s 8-0 record represented the best start in program history.

The loss sets up another important match next week. Grace will host No. 25 Marian on Sept. 24 in what likely will determine the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds in the conference standings.

Grace looked dangerous as the match started in doubles. Emily Mast and Dayana Ortega narrowly lost 5-7 at the top doubles court. Carrie Copeland and Jayna Armstrong also lost by the same score at No. 2 doubles. Morgan Mast and Gretchen Adams dropped a 3-6 match at No. 3 doubles.

The Wildcats (11-0, 8-0 CL) were convincing in singles’ play, winning each of the six matches in straight sets.
