WARSAW, TIPPECANOE VALLEY AT PLYMOUTH INVITE
Warsaw’s girls golf team won its first invitational of the season with a 377 at the Plymouth Invitational at Pretty Lake Golf Club Tuesday, while Tippecanoe Valley opened its season with a seventh-place finish.

Sophomore Marie Frazzetta led the Lady Tigers with a score of 88 — god enough for third place individually — followed by Grayson Kilburn and Sydney Lancaster with scores of 93 in a tie for fifth. Delaney Baron carded 103 to complete Warsaw’s team score, which was six strokes better than second-place South Bend St. Joseph, while Brooklyn Fitzgerald’s 109 was the team’s throw-away Tuesday.

Despite heavy rain early in the round, the young Lady Vikings posted a respectable 458 at the invite. Kaydence Mellot tied for 10th in the individual field with a 101, and Madelyn Weaver finished three strokes back in 18th place individually. Molly Moriarty shot 123, Cheney Canada carded 130, and Hestina Kim’s 143 was the team’s toss-out.

The Vikings will play Caston and Pioneer next Monday, beginning at 5 p.m. Warsaw will play in the NorthWood invitational Thursday at McCormick Creek at 2:30 p.m.

WAWASEE AT HUNTINGTON INVITE
Lady Warriors golf opened the year with a very respectable fourth-place finish at the Huntington Invitational Tuesday.

Wawasee carded 366, five strokes ahead of fifth-place Leo, while Homestead won the title with a dominant 293, Fort Wayne Dwenger finished second with a score of 352, and Carroll placed third with a 361.

Belle Bruner shot a 35 after the turn on the front nine on her way to a score of 85, and Tate Cowan matched the score with an 85 of her own as the duo led the Warriors at the 12-team invite. Valerie Haessig carded a 97, and Ava Harker put up a 99, while Jadison Rostochak came in at 104 for the team’s fifth score.

“Great second nine by Belle with a 35,” stated head coach Steve Coverstone. “Tate also played great with an 85.”

The Warriors host Columbia City in their home-opener Wednesday.

NORTHWOOD AT LAFAYETTE JEFFERSON INVITE
NorthWood followed up its Lafayette Harrison Invitational championship turn on Monday with a runner-up performance at the Lafayette Jeff Invite on Tuesday.

The Lady Panthers fired a 324 behind Zionsville’s 318 to earn second at the 19-team field, 10 strokes ahead of Guerin Catholic’s third-place score.

After going low at Harrison, Cybil Stillson placed fifth individually at Tuesday’s meet with a score of 77. Breanna Goss finished just three strokes back, while Makenna Gall carded 83, Delaney Davis shot an 84, and Kirsten Schrock turned in an 85 in a consistent performance by NorthWood’s top five.

Wood’s JV also competed at the meet, putting up a 430 to round out the field. Kylee Gall led the JV with a 97, Abbie Richner shot 102, Riley Kitson carded 107, and Bella Sechrist tallied a 124. Kira Scrock’s 135 was the JV’s fifth score.

NorthWood hosts an invitational at McCormick Creek on Thursday at 2 p.m.
