Railroad Crossings Crossing Lines on Closures

Dear Editor,

Why does the railroad have to close so many crossings at once?

Last night, Aug. 4, I attempted to travel home from Syracuse to the east side of Wawasee Lake where I live.

I arrived at the crossing where I normally turn and it was closed for repairs. I then traveled east to County Line Road Noble County and it was closed.

Every crossing going east was closed and SR 5 was closed when I arrived there.

I ended up on the far east side of Cromwell before being able to cross the railroad tracks to get home back to the east side of Wawasee. It took me 40 minutes to drive from Syracuse to home (normally 15 to 20 minutes depending on weather and traffic.)

Sincerely,

Ted Gillem
