WARSAW — The City of Warsaw has been updated by Norfolk Southern on the repairs to its railroad tracks at Ranch Road. Work will continue through next week. Weather dependent, Norfolk Southern is anticipating paving on Wednesday, June 1.

MILFORD — Railroad crossings at Syracuse Street and Catherine Street in Milford are closed today, Wednesday, April 13, through Friday, April 22. Motorists should adjust travel routes accordingly. The closures are for crossing repair and maintenance.

WARSAW — The Highway Department has dominated much spending in 2015, and at last night’s Kosciusko County Council meeting, an additional appropriation was requested. In addition, the 2016 appointments were filled and end-of-year transfers were made.

INDIANAPOLIS — Governor Mike Pence today announced support for legislation filed by Senator Brandt Hershman to immediately provide $418 million to local governments to fund local transportation infrastructure projects.

The Indiana Department of Transportation announces that US 6 closed today between CR 23 and SR 15, north of Milford, as Norfolk Southern rebuilds the railroad crossing. As snow continues to fall throughout Kosciusko and area counties, accidents are beginning to be reported. Road conditions are beginning to become slick and drivers are urged to slow down. For information regarding weather conditions, see: Weather Advisories In Effect For The Area. 

Drivers are advised to take caution when driving on Kosciusko County roads. According to Ed Rock, director of Kosciusko County Emergency Management, hard freeze conditions during the winter combined with the rapid thawing recently has left county roads very soft. Fulton County Highway warns that “gravel roads” in Fulton County are becoming soft. Please avoid travel on gravel roads if at all possible.

The train that derailed in West Virginia at approximately 1:20 p.m. on Monday most likely traveled through northern Indiana, and possibly even Kosciusko County. The train, which was carrying crude oil, was reportedly still burning as of Tuesday night, with oil pouring from the wreckage.
