The Fort Wayne Philharmonic returned to the shores of Lake Wawasee to present an evening of patriotic tunes at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 5.
The free Steel Dynamics Patriotic Pops concert took place at Oakwood Resort, 702 E. Lake View Road, Syracuse, and is part of many Oakwood summer concerts. The orchestra’s local appearance was sponsored by Chautauqua-Wawasee, while the pops series was sponsored by Steel Dynamics Inc. and the generous support and donations from many members of the community.
Conductor Chia-Hsuan Lin directed the concert. The musical interlude featured a series of patriotic songs and family favorites that celebrate the birth of the United States and the service of her veterans.
“We are very fortunate to have outstanding audiences not only in Fort Wayne but throughout northeastern Indiana. It’s always exciting to travel every year with The Phil and to perform for thesenew and old friends in their own communities,” Sameer said in a press release previously issued by the organization.
Oakwood Resort, along with J-N-B Smokers and several other vendors had food and refreshment available for purchase throughout the concert.
Youngsters who attended the concert could participate in a children’s art experience called Music in Color. Children preschool age and older were encouraged to interpret, in colors, the music as it was performed by the group.
