SYRACUSE — With a warmer than usual fall and winter, it’s been an uphill battle for Syracuse Lake to form enough ice to support dozens of people and snowmobiles. Now with a forecast of snow, the Wawasee Kiwanis Club has canceled its annual snowmobile drags.

SYRACUSE — Wawasee Kiwanis Club is hosting its seventh annual soup supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at the Syracuse Community Center.
Due to an unseasonably warm fall, the Wawasee Kiwanis Club has opted to move its 2016 Snowmobile Drag Races from Jan. 30 to the alternate date Feb. 13.
The sixth annual Wawasee Kiwanis Soup Supper featured “one of the best turnouts we’ve ever had,” according to the event’s chairperson Elaine Pearson. “I’d like to rename this event the ‘Taste of Syracuse,’ because we have so many talented cooks (contributing their soups)” she added, referencing the 22 delicious varieties offered at the event. Expect plenty of activities at the 2015 Winterfest, Jan. 30-31, which will occur alongside the annual Wawasee Kiwanis Soup Supper and Snowmobile Drags.
