SYRACUSE — Another group of Wawasee High School students who have excelled academically during their high school years are now part of the school’s Academic Hall of Fame. A group of 42 senior students, or roughly 18 percent of this year’s graduating class, were honored during the Academic Hall of Fame Banquet Thursday evening, May 4, in the high school cafeteria.

SYRACUSE — During a very brief special Wawasee school board meeting late Tuesday afternoon, June 7, in Syracuse, the board approved the resignation letter submitted by Mike Schmidt, principal of Wawasee High School. Schmidt’s resignation will be effective June 30.

WARSAW — Close to an hour of discussion and debate about a preliminary plat petition from Terry Shepherd led to no vote on the petition being taken by the Kosciusko County Area Planning Commission during its regular monthly meeting Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 2, in Warsaw.

SYRACUSE — The Boomerang Backpacks program has stayed plenty productive since Kellie Newcomer took over as the new program coordinator in the early summer months. Wawasee High School students take part in the program each week by helping fill bags with food and get them ready to send home with low-income elementary students.

Friday evening, 37 more Wawasee High School seniors were inducted into the hall of fame. It’s an annual tradition for a school priding itself on academic prowess.
