A group of local citizens came up with the idea to honor the Dixie sternwheel paddle boat. A watercraft parade and pier decorating contest called the Dixie Salute was held on Webster Lake Saturday, July 25. Those wishing to be judged placed yellow ribbons on their displays.

A North Webster national historic monument, the Dixie sternwheel paddleboat, is being honored Saturday, July 25.

Fireworks are set to take place around the area both on July 3, and July 4 in celebration of independence day.

Dixie Sternwheeler Paddleboat Inc. board of directors made a “sad but necessary decision” Monday evening, May 18.
