SYRACUSE — Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department responded to a vehicle versus motorcycle accident Saturday, Aug. 22, ending in one fatality.
Officers responded at 4:18 p.m. to the intersection of US 6 and SR 13 in Syracuse and found Jeffrey Smith, 56, North Webster, suffering from a chest laceration and head injury after striking an SUV operated by Richard Eastman, 75, Roanoke, Ill.

Elkhart City Police have released the names of the three officers involved in a shooting Sunday evening in the 400 block of West Marion Street in Elkhart. One of those officers, Cpl.
