Last month, the Center for Lakes & Streams at Grace College announced the winners of the 2015 Wonderful Water Student Art Contest.

Earlier this month, two pieces were unveiled adorning a Warsaw Public Works street sweeper at First Friday. Honorable mentions Logan Haessig, a senior at Wawasee High School and Maren Lehman, a freshman at Whitko High School, decorated either side of the truck with their art work.

Over 330 students from Warsaw Community Schools, Wawasee Community Schools and Tippecanoe Valley Schools entered the competition. Artwork was judged in six separate grade categories: 4, 5, 6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12. First through sixth places were awarded for each category; honorable mention titles were also awarded.

The winners’ paintings are currently on display at Latte Lounge in downtown Warsaw, and honorable mentions are on display at Cooley Science Center at Grace College, Winona Lake – but only for a few more days. A special award presentation for the winners will take place on June 20 at the Northern Indiana Lakes Festival. For more information on the Lakes Festival, go to www.lakesfestival.org.
