Wildcats Rally To Edge Eagles

Whitko SportsSOUTH WHITLEY – The Whitko baseball team saved its best for last Friday night.

The Wildcats scored four runs in their final at-bat to rally past visiting Columbia City 9-8  in a non-confernece affair.

The Eagles scored three times in the top of the seventh to break a 5-5 stalemate to take an 8-5 lead.

Whitko then put together its rally in the final frame for the win.

Tanner Gaff went 3-4 at the plate to lead the 10-hit attack for the winners.

Tanner Hughes was 2-2 with two RBI for Whitko in the win. Drew Bradford was 2-3 and Zach Snep 2-3 with a double for the Wildcats.

Alex Robbins earned the pitching win in relief in the final inning. Riley Anderson went six plus innings for the Wildcats.

Conner Reed had two hits, including a triple, and an RBI for Columbia City.

Whitko, now 16-7, will host West Noble Monday night at 5 p.m. It will be Senior Night for coach Erik Hisner’s team.
