Triton SportsSoftball Crushes Glenn Twice

Early outbursts helped Triton to a pair of wins against John Glenn Tuesday. Triton scored five runs in the second inning of a 11-1 win and then scored 10 runs in the first inning of an 18-2 victory.

The 10-run win featured 15 Trojan hits, three each from Taytum Hargrave, Kayla Kreft and Hannah Jennings. Kreft got Triton going with a two-run single, and finished with three RBIs and three runs scored to pace the win. Jennings drove in three and Lexee Lemler added three runs scored.

Brycelyn Garbison allowed just a solo homer in picking up the win in the circle. Garbison scattered 10 hits, but walked none and struck out four.

In the second game, Triton built a 17-0 lead in the monster win. Megan Berger homered and drove in three runs. Jennings also drove in three runs with a pair of hits. Triton had 13 more hits in the rout.

Courtney Jennings gave up 10 hits to Glenn, but with the offensive support made it stand up. The freshman walked none and struck out four for the pitching win.

Triton improves to 14-7 overall and 6-3 in the Northern State Conference. The Trojans will host LaVille Wednesday at Keyser Field in a 5 p.m. first pitch.

Tennis Keeps Rolling Along

The girls tennis season is rapidly winding down, but the Triton girls tennis team keeps winning. The Trojans moved to 10-1 overall and 5-1 in the Northern State Conference with a 5-0 win at LaVille Tuesday.

Singles saw a pair of shutouts from Kaelyn Mason at one singles and Hannah Wanemacher at three singles. Shayla May won the two singles match 6-1, 7-6 (1).

The Mason sisters, Kylie and Kolbie, won at one doubles 7-5, 7-5 and the team of Quinn Downing and Emma Ross rallied from a 6-4 loss in the first set to claim a 6-3, 7-5 win in three at two doubles.

The JV rippers for Triton also swept its matches 5-0.

Triton will host South Bend Riley Wednesday afternoon in a makeup from Monday’s rainout.

JV Baseball Wins Big

Triton’s JV baseball team had a nice night Tuesday, picking up a 14-2 win over Caston. Statistics from the game were not supplied.
