Whitko Players Honored By TRC
Several players from the Whitko baseball team have been honored by the Three Rivers Conference for the 2012 season.
Zach Snep was chosen as a first-team, All-TRC selection. The freshman outfielder hit .390 with 15 RBI and 17 runs scored.
The duo of Ethan Nicodemus and Ryan Weigold earned second-team, All-TRC honors. Nicodemus, a sophomore infielder, hit .348 with 22 RBI, 32 runs scored and 26 stolen bases. Weigold, a junior outfielder, hit .337 with 23 RBI, 33 runs scored and 18 stolen bases.
Honorable mention All-TRC honors went to Riley Cokl, Wes Gensch and Colin Nicodemus. Cokl, a senior catcher, had 10 RBI. Gensch, a senior pitcher, was 5-2 with three saves. Nicodemus, a senior infielder, hit .344 with 34 runs scored and 24 stolen bases.
Whitko also received academic honors from the conference. Named All-TRC Academic first-team were seniors Colin Nicodemus and Gensch and juniors Alex Stoddard and Weigold. Honorable mention honors went to senior Cokl and senior Austin Mort.
Whitko senior Colin Nicodemus was also honored as the TRC Baseball Mental Attitude Award Winner for the 2012 season.
Whitko, coached by Erik Hisner, finished 20-9 this spring.
