Warsaw Sports Wrap – May 2
The Warsaw baseball team dropped a twin bill at Valparaiso Saturday.
The Vikings took game one 12-2 in five innings and won the nightcap 12-8.
Tyler LaFollette had two hits and an RBI for Warsaw in game one. Marselo Rodriguez took the pitching loss for the Tigers.
Tyler Ellrich had a home run, double and two RBI to pace Valparaiso.
Zach Witt had two doubles and three RBI to lead Warsaw in the second game.
LaFollette had two hits, including a home run, two RBI and scored three runs in the nightcap. Henry Howard homered and Sterlin Hay had two hits, including a double.
Ellrich once again led the winners with a home run and four RBI.
Warsaw, now 5-8, will host Elkhart Memorial in a Northern Lakes Conference game on Monday evening.
The Warsaw junior varsity team also lost twice to Valparaiso, 4-3 and 5-4.
Jordan Steffensmeier had a home run and Alex Miller two hits in the 4-3 loss. The trio of Steffensmeier, Miller and Bryce Sensibaugh each had three hits and Braxton Tennant two in the 5-4 defeat.
JV Golfers Place Fifth
The Warsaw junior varsity boys golf team placed fifth in the Lafayette Jeff Invitational.
The Tigers shot 352 as a team in the event.
Jacob LaLonde was low man for Warsaw with a round of 87.
Tim Rata and Luke Delp each shot an 88, Andrew Gauger an 89 and Sam Yeager a 91 for the JV Tigers.
Warsaw will host its own invitational Saturday at Rozella Ford.
