Warsaw SportsThe Warsaw baseball team saved its best for last Friday night.

The host Tigers plate four runs in their final at bat to post a big 6-5 win over Concord.

Warsaw trailed 5-2 after the Minutemen scored three times in their final at-bat in the top of the seventh inning.

The Tigers got a huge game from Tyler LaFollette in the win. The  senior had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and drove in three runs in the Northern Lakes Conference victory.

The quartet of Ethyn Bradley, Brad Christenberry, Sterling Hay and Zach Witt each had a hit for the winners.

Blake Foreman pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to notch the win for the Tigers.

Jake Witt had two hits and two RBI for Concord. Starting pitcher Jake Vernon had 11 strikeouts in six innings for the Minutemen and also hit a home run.

Concord left 10 runners on base in the league loss.

Warsaw improves to 5-6 overall and moves to 3-3 in the NLC.  The Minutemen fall to 7-4 overall and 3-3 in league play.

Concord won the junior varsity contest 14-13. Jordan Steffensmeier had three hits, including a home run, to lead Warsaw. Alex Miller had two hits for Warsaw. Luke Baker took the pitching loss for the Tigers, who are now 9-2 overall and 5-1 in the NLC.

Warsaw plays a doubleheader at Valparaiso on Saturday and then hosts NLC foe Elkhart Memorial on Monday. Concord plays an NLC game at Wawasee on Monday.

Softball Team Blanked By Concord

The Warsaw softball team lost a 10-0 decision at Concord Friday evening.

Concord pitcher RaeAnn Miller fired a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts in the Northern Lakes Conference contest. Miller, who walked two in the five-inning game, is now 12-3 on the season.

Maddi Jackowiak had three RBI to pace Concord. Allyson Williams had three hits and Brittney Eichorst and Jade Iavagnilio each had two. Miller had a triple.

Abby Glass took the pitching loss for the Tigers.

Warsaw returns to action Monday at NLC foe Elkhart Memorial. Concord hosts Wawasee in a key NLC game, also on Monday.
