Wawasee SportsSYRACUSE – Wawasee’s tough go in the field Monday afternoon left the Warriors on the short end of a lopsided 12-2 loss to visiting Northridge in varsity baseball.

An eight-run third inning was the frame that made the game for the Raiders. The game was only a 3-2 contest up to the merry-go-round inning for the Raiders, who had nine hits in the game. Wawasee, on the other hand, committed four errors, and were costly in the outcome.

Wawasee managed just three hits on Ridge, and all singles. Aaron Voirol and Kurtis Liston each had RBI singles in the game for the Warriors, which fall to 1-3 in the Northern Lakes Conference and 6-4 overall.

Wawasee had opened the season 5-1 in non-conference play ahead of the NLC slate, to which Wawasee has lost its last three games.

The Warriors will look to reverse its NLC fortunes Wednesday at Plymouth.

In the JV game, Northridge put the pressure on Wawasee in a 13-3 final for the Raiders. Gavin Bontrager had two doubles and Tim Conley added a double for Wawasee, which fall to 2-4 overall. The JV will also take a 1-3 NLC tally into Wednesday’s trip to Plymouth.
