The annual Head Start Round Up, registering children for Head Start classes for the coming school year, will be held between the hours of 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and noon until 3 p.m. Monday, April 6, through Friday, April 10.
Families living in Kosciusko County with a child between 3 and 5 years of age may benefit from the program which provides a comprehensive preschool experience at no cost to the family.
Parents should apply in person at the Head Start building, located at 811 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw, and are asked to bring the following documents.
- Child’s birth certificate.
- Proof of current address, such as a driver’s license or utility bill.
- Proof of all income, such as 2014 tax forms, W2’s or check stubs. If you receive child support, a child support docket from the clerk’s office. Head Start is an income based program.
Head Start offers classes in Warsaw, North Webster, Mentone, and Pierceton. Classes are Monday through Thursday for six hours each day, September through May. Head Start provides:
- Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack
- Kindergarten readiness skills
- Math, reading, writing, and science skills
- Small and large group instructional time
- Parent opportunities

Applications will also be accepted for the Early Head Start program, serving children aged 3 and under. EHS is a home-based program in which the teacher visits the home once/week to work with parent and child, to encourage the child’s brain development.
