Stinfer Seeks To Bring Parties Together
Dear Editor:
Michael Stinfer is a registered Republican running as an Independent candidate for State House of Representatives District 22.
Michael Stinfer is not your typical politician, and this may not be a typical race for the District 22 State seat. Stinfer is a 15-year combat veteran tired of negative campaigns and mudslinging.
“Our two-party system is at odds. There are strong beliefs on both sides that sometimes cause us to stop listening and stop working towards solutions. Not only does this set a bad example, but it can cause people to quit caring and disengage from the whole process,” said Stinfer. “We need to pull together as a community, and it needs to start with its leadership.”
Stinfer admittedly is conservative and a registered Republican, but sees the need to bring the two parties together. Believing that one of the things that makes us great is that we are free to have differing views and hold to them strongly, Stinfer says we need to acknowledge our differences and embrace ways we can work towards solutions in favor of continuing to improve our community. One of the ways Stinfer believes we can do this is through service leadership.
“I’m a conservative, but to be clear, this is not a Democratic seat or a Republican seat. It is the people’s seat. My vision for our community is to have a leader that listens first and serves accordingly. I’m in this race because our community deserves better,” he says.
Not new to service, Stinfer served four years in the Marine Corps leading a team of breachers in the initial invasion of Iraq and is currently an Army Ranger with the Indiana National Guard. Now with three daughters of his own, he decided it was a good time to serve his community on the local level. “I love this community. A lot of people don’t want to get involved, but we have to. We have to continue to grow, and shape a future with faith, integrity, courage, accountability and love for our neighbors. We owe that to the next generation.”
