David J. Orton, 72, of Goshen, Ind., died unexpectedly, at 5:02 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014, at IU Health Goshen. 

He was born Nov. 10, 1941, in Sturgis, Mich., to Judson and Mabel Orton. On Oct. 9, 1967, he married Elaine R. Sowards. She preceded in death on Feb. 23, 2007.

Mr. Orton lived most of his life in the Nappanee, Ind., area. He had worked in the RV industry and was an active member of New Life Church in Goshen.

He is survived by his children: Sabrina (Robert) Borton, Elkhart, Ind.; and David Earl Orton, Goshen; a granddaughter: Megan Borton; sisters: Sandy (Clem) Riedner, Indianapolis; and Darlene (Kevin) White, Jacksonville, Fla.; brothers: Steve (Toni) Orton, Goshen; and Bryan Orton, North Carolina.

Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at New Life Church in Goshen. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the church with Rev. T.J. Meehan officiating. Burial will be in South Union Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the David J. Orton memorial fund for funeral expenses.
