OI1800651178_HeadshotJanice ‘Jan’ E. Fackler, 70, of Syracuse, Ind., passed away on Monday, Feb. 10, 2014, at her home.

She was born on May 19, 1943, in Goshen, Ind., to M. Howard and Esther Berniece (Fisher) Berger.

She was a lifetime Nappanee, Ind., and Syracuse, Ind., area resident and graduated in 1961 from Nappanee High School. On July 19, 1963, in Nappanee, she married James L. ‘Jim’ Fackler, who survives. She retired in 2008 from Veada Industries in New Paris, Ind., after 34 years of service.

She was a member of the Bethany Church of the Brethren in New Paris and a former member of the Church of the Brethren in Syracuse.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter: Karen Sue (Randall) Gill, Millersburg; son: Jeffery Alan (Lori) Fackler, Penn Run, Pa.; four grandchildren; two sisters: Margaret Bell, Matteson, Ill.; and Lynn Whittenberger, Kokomo, Ind.; two brothers: Steve (Connie) Berger, Wallingford, Vt.; and Will Berger, Foreaker, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister: Doris Ann Heckaman.

Visitation was from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 14,  at the funeral with Pastor Tim Sollenberger–Morphew of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, CR 29, Syracuse.

Memorial bequest may be given to Goshen Care at Home Hospice, P.O. Box 723, Goshen, IN 46526 or Center for Cancer Care, 200 High St., Goshen, IN 46526. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
