The 14-year-old Warsaw boy critically injured when he was struck by a vehicle while riding his skateboard is making some progress.

According to a Caring Bridge page set up to share Austin Valentine’s progress, the teen is being kept in a medically induced coma, but he has become to come out of that himself and is responding to verbal commands. The medical team is considering bringing him fully out of his induced coma today.

Valentine was attempting to cross Detroit Street at Center Street in downtown Warsaw on July 9 when he was struck by a vehicle. Warsaw Police and the Kosciusko County F.A.C.T./crash investigation team worked the scene. The driver of the vehicle reportedly had a green light when Valentine entered into his path.
