ELKHART – Police are investigating an apparent shooting in Elkhart.

At about 1 p.m. Thursday, Elkhart County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 52199 Ridgeway Lane in Elkhart, about an adult male suffering from a minor injury due to gunfire, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect was determined to be inside the residence and refused to exit. The perimeter was secured and the Elkhart County Regional SWAT Team was requested to the scene. 

The suspect, an adult female, exited the residence at about 2:53 p.m. and was taken into custody. 

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. No additional information is available for release at this time.
