Dear Editor,
On Tuesday, June 2, I’m voting for Dr. Chris Magiera for the Indiana District 3 Congressional seat.
In 2016, when then-candidate Jim Banks ran for this seat, he sold himself as the liberty-minded, small-government Republican candidate. As Congressman, Banks has voted for and funded government spying, voted to bust spending caps and increase deficit spending, and voted for record funding of the military industrial complex. Where’s our small government Congressman?
I know Dr. Magiera. He is committed to following the Constitution as the basis of his voting. His promise is to follow the Constitution 100% of the time.
As a medical doctor, Dr. Magiera approached COVID-19 cautiously and carefully. As it became news in March, he was against the lockdown of our economy. Dr. Magiera questioned the inflated statistical projections and rejected the use of fear to establish public policy. As lockdowns began to happen, Dr. Magiera held up the Constitution as the guardrail which should not have been broken.
Today, Dr. Magiera’s views have been validated. By contrast, Congressman Banks supported a $2 trillion spending package by voice vote. A quorum for that vote could not be proven. There is a case for saying that vote was unconstitutional.
As our national debt will likely pass $30 trillion this year and as the Federal Reserve is on track to print over $6 trillion this year, I’m going to hold Congressman Banks responsible for his history of supporting deficit spending. It appears Banks has willfully fallen out of touch with his conservative voting base as indicated by his voting record. The children and grandchildren of District 3 voters deserve better representation rather than more debt, an abusive surveillance state, and a bigger government.
I encourage District 3 voters to vote for Dr. Magiera for Congress on June 2!
