MENTONE – Mentone Egg Festival is officially not happening this summer due to concerns over COVID-19, but some in the community will offer some activities in light of the situation.

The decision was announced at the Mentone Town Council meeting Wednesday, May 6. While nothing is firm, some people are expressing a desire to have some kind of activities this summer.

The council also discussed the creation of what will be called the “Sandlot League” for those kids interested in playing baseball this summer. The only expense will be the cost of shirts.

The league is expected to begin on June 15. Contact: [email protected] or visit the “Myl League” Facebook page for more information.

Spring cleaning pickup is set for May 20. There will be a seven bag limit for those participating.

The “Mentone News & Information” Facebook page is expected to be sending out questions to see what the town response is to the following; Chickens in town, and the creation of a neighborhood watch program.

The next meeting will be 6:30 p.m., June 3.
