ELKHART — Did you know learning a new skill improves our cognitive health and reduces the risk of developing dementia? The brain is an amazing organ.

It receives information through the five senses of sight, smell, touch, taste and hearing. It’s affected by virtually every aspect of a person’s life, including moods,  activities, how well you sleep,  stress levels and the foods eaten. In this class, participants will gain insights into the amazing brain and participate in interactive activities that challenge thinking and help participants stay mentally active.

Join others for this free, educational program presented by Virginia Aparicio, Purdue University Extension Educator in Health & Human Sciences in Elkhart County. This program is being offered March 11 at 1 p.m. at the Purdue Extension Elkhart County office, located on the Elkhart County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Persons who would like to join others for the program should pre-register by calling the extension office at (574) 533-0554 or emailing [email protected]. This program and all programs of the Purdue University Extension Service are open to everyone.

Those who are in need of a reasonable accommodation to participate in this program, contact Virginia Aparicio at (574) 533-0554 or vaparicio@purdue.edu by March 6.
