State Sen. Ryan Mishler (R-Bremen) recently welcomed the following local students to the Statehouse, where they served as Senate pages:

  • Michal Scherer-Berry, from Bourbon, attends Triton Jr./Sr. High School.
  • Leanna Chan, from Warsaw, attends Warsaw Community High School.
  • Hanna Hopple, from Plymouth, attends Lincoln Junior High School.
  • Carrie Avery, from Wakarusa, attends NorthWood High School.
  • Madeline Hooks, from Warsaw, attends Warsaw Community High School.

Pages spend a day at the Statehouse touring the historic building, observing some debates from the chamber floor and interacting with their state senators.

“Paging is a fun way to give students first-hand experience of state government,” Mishler said. “Thank you to all the young students from our district who visited the Statehouse this session. I hope you’ll encourage your friends to page in years to come.”

Although the page program has concluded for this session, you can learn how to register your student to serve as a Senate page next session, by  visiting www.in.gov/senatepageprogram.
