Pilgrims Plate Walk-off To Stun Warriors

Wawasee logoPLYMOUTH — A run in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the homestanding Plymouth Pilgrims a 7-6 win over Wawasee Wednesday night in Northern Lakes Conference baseball.

After Wawasee loaded up with three runs in the seventh inning to take a 6-4 lead, Plymouth followed up with a pair of runs to tie the game. The Pilgrims opened the game with three runs in the first inning, which Wawasee matched with three of its own in the second. Plymouth countered with a run in the bottom of the second before the handful of heroics late in the game.

Jordan Currie was shouldered with the loss for the Warriors (1-6, 1-3 NLC), one of four pitchers which worked for Wawasee. Starter Andrew Milligan pitching six innings for the Warriors.

Bailey Clark got the win in relief for the Pilgrims (5-6, 2-2 NLC) while Justin Drudge was 4-5 at the plate with two runs scored. Jarrod Ellis and Trent Briles added doubles for the Pilgrims.

Donovan Navarro had a pair of doubles for the Wawasee offense, while Drew Anderson also added a two-bagger.

The Wawasee JV (3-2) won a slugfest with Plymouth, 12-10, Wednesday in Plymouth. Sam Rookstool had three hits and three RBIs and Harrison Shortill also drove in three runs on a pair of hits. Nik Anderson went 3-4 with two doubles, three runs scored and a run driven in. Drew Wright picked up the win in relief on the mound.
